2025 at duck creek arts center

Looking back on this past year at The Arts Center at Duck Creek, we’re filled with gratitude. Working alongside ACDC has been a reminder of what it looks like when art is rooted in care, community, and genuine access.

From the very beginning, Duck Creek has felt like a place where things are allowed to unfold. We spent the year documenting performances, installations, conversations, and quiet in-between moments — the kind that don’t always announce themselves but carry just as much meaning. Whether it was music drifting across the grounds, artists testing ideas in real time, or audiences arriving with curiosity and openness, every visit felt alive.

What stands out most to us is Duck Creek’s commitment to free and open access. The fact that everything here is offered without barriers changes how people show up — artists and audiences alike. We saw musicians curate their peers, artists take creative risks, and community members encounter work they might not otherwise seek out. That openness shapes the energy of the place, and it’s something we tried to honor in how we filmed and photographed throughout the year.

As storytellers, we were especially drawn to the process-driven nature of the work at Duck Creek. Many of the projects we documented weren’t about a polished final moment, but about evolution — rehearsals becoming performances, ideas shifting through repetition, and audiences coming and going as part of the experience. Our role was to observe, listen, and translate that spirit into images and sound without interrupting it.

Behind it all is a small, deeply dedicated team that makes a big impact. Their trust in us allowed for an honest and intimate approach to documentation, and we’re thankful for the space to work thoughtfully and collaboratively.

Spending the year at Duck Creek reaffirmed why we love doing this work. It’s not just about capturing events — it’s about holding space for the values behind them: generosity, experimentation, and community. We’re proud to have been part of this year and excited to continue telling Duck Creek’s story as it grows.
